How to find and choose the right partner for a relationship?

Rady a tipy na seznámení

Getting to know each other is not difficult in the modern world. Finding the right one can be a bigger challenge. Mutual attraction is important in a relationship, but it should not be the main or even the only criterion for choosing a partner. How to find a partner with whom you will understand each other, even if your rose-colored glasses fall off?

Think about your values and attitudes

In order to find your other half, you must first find yourself. Self-knowledge is the path to realizing what values you consider key and what expectations you have from a partnership. If you know that your family, stability and responsibility come first, you will be able to see within one or two dates whether you will find common ground and common values with a new acquaintance.

Although they say that opposites attract, this may not be entirely true in real relationships. On the contrary, shared values and goals are the fundamental pillars of a satisfied relationship. By getting to know yourself, you can also better reflect on what expectations you have of yourself as a partner and what you can offer your significant other.

Define your needs in a relationship

Unfulfilled needs in a relationship can be a source of frustration, misunderstanding and can lead to estrangement or separation between partners. Think about what your expectations are in a relationship. Do you want a calm, reliable partner by your side? Or do you prefer a passionate adventurer with whom you will definitely not be bored? Is family and a sense of responsibility first for you, or rather love and passion?

Think about what your priorities are in relationships and ask yourself these questions for couples:

  • What is most important to me in a relationship?
  • Which qualities do I consider most important in a potential partner?

Set your priorities

Remember that you will never find a partner who will 100% meet your ideas about the ideal man or woman. It is important to be able to distinguish which qualities are important for your satisfaction in the relationship, and which ones you would like, but are more of a nice bonus than a necessity.

Don't focus only on appearance

Have you ever entered into a relationship with a partner who was not right for you at all because you couldn't resist the chemistry between you? If you meet someone you really like and there is a spark between you, it can be hard not to give in. Many couples make this mistake. When the infatuation fades, sobering up, disappointment and frustration in the relationship often comes. Chemistry is important in a relationship, but it is not enough for a happy relationship. In a long-term relationship, mutual understanding, shared values and goals are the most important. When choosing a partner, try to focus on whether you are compatible with each other and can walk the path of life together. You can prepare questions for your partner in advance on your first date to help you test whether you share common values and goals.

Forget about prejudices

If you avoid prejudices and hasty conclusions when dating, you can increase your chances of a successful acquaintance. Does your counterpart on the first date seem closed, inaccessible, boring, or conversely, does he talk too much, draw attention to himself and hardly let you speak? This does not have to say anything about his character or behavior in a future relationship. Maybe he is nervous and trying to get rid of nervousness, or maybe he had a bad day.

If you have found common ground and have similar values or outlook on life, try giving your counterpart another chance. Maybe you will eventually find out that the reserved grumbler is actually a nice guy with whom you will get along wonderfully. At the same time, you should not ignore the warning signs that will tell you that you are dating a toxic personality.
